Packaging
No transport packaging is required if the motorcycle is transported in a collection container with vehicles only; the motorcycle is transported without packaging.
Transport
The motorcycle is transported in a consolidated container using only vehicles. Possible drop-off points are Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Miami. The port of destination is Bremerhaven. You also have the option of booking pick-up from the seller. Our local partner will pick up the motorcycle with a vehicle transporter or, if desired, with a closed vehicle. The transportation time is approx. 6 weeks, depending on the speed of customs clearance by US customs, plus additional time required for collection. Delivery of the unpacked motorcycle to you is possible.
Customs
For export from the USA, the original title must be available at the port of departure. This is submitted to the American export customs and is automatically sent to Germany after departure of the ship. Customs clearance of the vehicle is carried out by us on the basis of the invoice or purchase contract submitted. In exceptional cases, customs will request proof of payment for the purchase. As a simplified invoice, you can assume that import duties (customs duty + import sales tax) of around 25% of the purchase price will be incurred. The exact calculation and the conditions for so-called classic car customs clearance at 6% of the purchase price can also be found on the German customs website. Please be sure to observe the applicable customs regulations. Souvenirs must not be stowed in the crate, the travel allowances do not apply to freight transport!
Contract and payment
If you have decided to make a booking, we will draw up a forwarding contract, which you sign and return to us. We need the contact details of the seller as well as a copy of the title and the purchase contract. The transport will be invoiced shortly after the motorcycle is handed over in Germany, we do not charge a deposit on conclusion of the contract!
Transport insurance
We offer optional transport insurance against total loss and transport damage to the motorcycle. The premium is 0.95% of the vehicle value, minimum € 160.00. Paint damage and oxidation are excluded, vehicles over 9 years old can only be insured against total loss. Any luggage sent with the vehicle is unfortunately not insurable, we recommend that you enquire about luggage insurance. In the event of damage, this must be visible from the outside, the excess is € 500.00 per claim.
Prices
The costs to Bremerhaven from the East Coast are € 1495.00 and from the West Coast € 1595.00 including all port and handling costs, but plus customs clearance costs in Germany of € 150.00. The possible pick-up costs in the USA will be requested individually, a delivery from Bremerhaven is Germany-wide at € 349.00 The prices are based on current tariffs and include the current fuel, dangerous goods and security charges.
