Motorcycle tour groups and vehicles
General Information
Target group
For container-capable vehicles and motorcycle groups with as few as 3 motorcycles, we offer the option of an ‘exclusive container’. For vehicles with high roofs or superstructures, check the possibility of reducing the height with container tires to enable container loading.
Loading takes place at our warehouse in Hamburg or at long-standing cooperation partners overseas. Depending on local conditions, it may be possible for you to be present during loading. In any case, your vehicle is protected against theft and damage and thus offers an uncomplicated alternative to RoRo transport or crate packing.
Delivery and destination locations
We currently offer this option to and from many places in the world. As we cannot list all ports here, please ask us about your requirements.
At destination for transportation from Hamburg
After your arrival, contact our local partner. The time required is usually around 1 day, but in Australia and New Zealand this can sometimes take longer due to quarantine regulations.
At the drop-off location when booking to Hamburg
Approximately 1-2 weeks before delivery, you discuss the date and local conditions with our local partner. The time required varies between one day and up to 4 days, e.g. in Colombia and Peru.
Everything else is organized by our local partner and us here in Hamburg.
Customs
For problem-free import and export in the destination country, you need a Carnet de Passage, which is only available from the automobile club (ADAC in Germany). The exception is North and South America, where no carnet is required. In the case of an outward journey, the carnet is only required in the destination country.
You send us the Carnet about 2 weeks before the start of the journey in the destination country, we forward it by courier and our partner arranges pre-customs clearance. During transportation back to Germany, the Carnet is cleared in the country of departure and sent to us by courier.
Contract and payment
Once you have decided to book, we will draw up a forwarding contract, which you sign and return to us. Invoicing for transportation abroad takes place after departure of the ship, for a journey to Germany you pay on arrival in Hamburg. Partial or full payment is only necessary in exceptional cases!
Transport insurance
We offer optional transport insurance against total loss and transport damage to the vehicle. The premium is 0.95% of the vehicle value, with a minimum of € 95.00 per journey. Paint damage and oxidation are excluded, vehicles over 9 years old can only be insured against total loss. Unfortunately, luggage cannot be insured. We recommend that you enquire about luggage insurance. The damage must have been demonstrably caused during transportation, the excess is € 500.00 per claim.
Prices
The costs are based on the transport distance; the more vehicles are transported in a container, the cheaper it is for the individual vehicle. Our prices are based on current tariffs and include all port and handling charges in addition to the current fuel, dangerous goods and security fees.
